Bloating and general gassiness

So my little 3 month old female is not happy right now. I brought her to the vet for a respiratory infection which I am giving her medicine orally, but also the vet noticed how bloated she was. He massaged some gas and poop out of her and tested the stool for parasites which came back negative. Since that visit over a week ago I have had to keep lightly squeezing the gas out of her, and the most recent time I did it she squeezed out a massive 2 inch long poop. Have any of you had to deal with this before? I am completely new to this particular situation and would like to know how long you think this problem is going to stick around.

She may have been a little constipated. If it happens again, you might try letting her swim or soak in some warm (not hot) water. Just put enough water in a tub so that it comes about half way up her side. Sometimes the extra activity of swimming will help work it out, or she will relax enough in the warm water, which may help her let it go.

I had a very small underfed bp who was only 102g at 8-9 months old. When I got him I started feeding him on a regular basis and he did the same thing. I had to massage the gas and feces/urates out of him almost every other day. I would let him soak in warm water for about 10 minutes prior to doing this. But once he started gaining some weight and processing the food better I no longer had to do this. He is now a little fatty and doing excellent. Just give it some time and it should resolve itselt with your help. If it doesnt in a week or two, I would go back to the vet for a recheck.

I have just finished (fingers crossed) with a similar issue mine had eaten some cyprus chips and that is what the vet though caused the issue, substrate wood chips, personally I am not completely convinced of that but... that is what she told me.

I also did the 20 min soak (88ºF) twice a day, the vet gave her a stool softner by tube in her office after taking some x-rays. She had a monster poo and the bloating seems to have gone away now. The other suggestion was a add a small amount of water to the rat (F/T rats not F/K or live) That dehydration can cause issues too. Mine never stopped peeing just poop and she was having fairly wet pee so dehydration wasn't really a problem in my case.

Glad to hear that this has happened to people before. Thanks for all of the input and advice. I will try giving her baths and hopefully we can put all of this unpleasantness behind us soon. She has been refusing food now too which I kind of saw coming. Hope that doesn't continue for very long.
