Hog Island humidity

does anybody have an experienced recommendation for the humidity of a hog island ?
I have read "keep them like a ball" 40 to 50 , 50 to 60 and am looking now at a page that says maintain them at 60 to 80 percent ....
I can keep it where it needs to be....I just don't know where that is .
I have hog that is doing well , growing , eats great and seems happy . Once he wonders into the water though he will stay there. I have let him alone there for 2 days and a night before before running him out.
I have been keeping humidity 47 to 50 %
It also looks like I may have been keeping him to warm because of an out of whack temp probe so actual temps were around 92 to 95 warm side , graduating down to around 74 at the other end ( where the water is) , basking spot ( which he never used) was hitting 97

this guy has me puzzled enough to bring me out of lurking, surely these snakes don't habitually stay in the water for long lengths of time do they ?

If your tank was getting up to 97 he's probably cooling off in the water. I have also heard of snakes hiding in the water dish if there's no hides it likes.

That would be my guess too. I've always heard 40-60% as well, and when I was with my ex who had a RTB, we always kept her humidity around 50% and she was fine.

I know they definitely do seem to enjoy their water dishes, although 2 days does seem a bit excessive. I think the longest I ever saw my ex's RTB in her water was around a day, but maybe it varies by individual, like temperament. I'd say as long as he has 2 good hides, it was probably just the temp spike.

I have the temps where they should be now and have raised the humidity to 60 % . snake ate a rat pup last night and was in the water by 1am , good news is , I came home from work to find him curled up on top of his warm side hide .....so glad to see him come out of the water on his own. thanks for the advise and help
