Want a new Kingnsnake...But what to buy?
I have time and Space for a new snake and these 4 species have been on my mind and, unlike the asian ratsnakes I'd like to get someday, in my budget.

    Lampropeltis Alterna

    Lampropeltis Mexicana Greeri

    Lampropeltis Pyromelana Knoblochi

    Lampropeltis Mexicana Mexicana

I am sort of Leaning towards the Knob and The Mex mex. I know where I can get a mex mex but they didn't seem to bright really. So if anyone could also recommend breeders for any of these species I'd be much obliged.

Oh man, I love knoblochis!! If I ever got another king, that's what it would be. Their colors are always so beautiful.

Not sure of specific breeders though. I always just use kingsnake.com, but I'd like to know of some good recommended breeders as well.

I have always loved the Pyros. They are on the smaller side, but they are so vibrant!

Looks like you can't make a bad choice here, though.

    That mex greer looks awesome!

But between the two you've been "leaning to", I say Mexmex if you can get that bright red

If it were me, I'd probably go with a grey-band or a knoblochi. Those two species seem to have more natural color and pattern variation - grey-bands differ in appearance quite a bit, and knoblochi's can have reduced bands, mega bands, reduced black etc... Maybe I just haven't seen enough, but most mex mex and greeri look similar to one another in my opinion (of course, at one point I probably would have said the same thing about subtle ball morphs)

    Why no thayeri?

I went with a black mexican king for my first non BP and I have to say he's pretty cool. You don't see many all black snakes and they're relatively cheap. Never missed a meal even before a shed and has only struck at me once as a baby (which I can't blame him when you're that small you're a, meal to everything). But ya there are some cool morphs out there but like I said, you don't see many full black (charcoal) snakes.
