    What's wrong with my iguana??
I've noticed lately my iguanas scales turn brown on his back sometimes. He is normally a very bright green. I can't find any pattern to it. Why does this happen?

how long have you had him?

it could be anything from the lighting, is he getting UV light? or the food source he could be lacking nutrition.

I've had him since July but this has just been lately. He sits under his UV light and heat light most of the day. He's been sleeping alot more then usual. He gets fed collard greens as a staple and different fruit/veggies and I add calcium a few times a week.

i have always been told that if a lizard sits under the heat lamps and basks all day long, the hot spot isn't hot enough. check that spot again.

Do they look dry or different in texture then the other scales? If they do, it could be a bacterial issue which he'll need antibiotics for.

Nope. They look and feel normal. Just brownish.. The last few days its just stayed brown. I got him a vet appointment in April but I'm wondering if I can do anything for him until then.

Some iguanas tend to get darker when growing.my iguana was super green when young but know his dark and i know it has nothing too do with uvb because his outside in his cage sun bathing:d. If you have him inside and have a uvb light maybe the uvb bulb expired. You need to change there light every 6 months cause they stop putting out uvb rays. And reptisun 5.0 is the best. Hoped i helped

nobody has even asked, so ill do it

when was the last time your iguana has shed. It might be that point where hes starting to shed, remember their body will begin to turn brown before they start shedding
