post ovulation behaviors

alright well my normal female ovulated 5 days ago and she hasnt really been spending all that much time on the hot spot. she primarily seems to be near the water bowl.

my question is when do they start seeking the warmth 24/7 and is it usual for them to hang out on the cold side before the post ovulation shed?

also, a side question, I read about incubators temps being affected by the room temp, my snake room is kept at 80-83 throughout the day would this be a suitable room for the incubator?

Her hot spot might be too hot for her to stay on 24/7. I've had gravid females not spend all their time on the hot spot. I've had some spend more time on the cold side. Typically they lay later. I just had a female lay 26 days post shed who was always on her heat. Then had another who wasn't on it much and laid on day 35.

yeah I figured that maybe it was too hot to be on 24/7 so I dialed it down to 90. very interesting though and I appreciate the response.

The room temp doesn't really matter for an incubator. More importantly, the temp needs to be steady. A well insulated incubator should not be affected too much with the room temp!

And having water bottles in the incubator will help maintain the temp. even if your room does fluctuate (drop) a couple degrees.

yep I have about six on the floor of the bator
