    1st timers "?"
Ok so I'm sure its not follicle building becuz she's off feed now for 3 weeks.
But she locked up twice in this same time period(3 weeks)
But she is huge! And has major tail suckage!
    But hasn't shed.

My question is. Is it possible for her to have already ovulated without a prelay shed?

I am interested to see some answers as well. My female seems very large (but it could just be wishful thinking on my part and my eyes may just be playing tricks on me).

Although I am thinking something might be up because her and my male did not lock up after being together for 24 hours this weekend and in the past it took no longer than an hour to get a lock.

I was fooled, my normal went through all the motions!! I'm a newbee first of all let me say that, I've never bred any pythons!!! I did what everyone said I cut her off of feedings lowered the temps and put the male in with her. She blimped up like a balloon, I never saw them locked up either but saw them always all tightly knotted up together so after a week of this I took him out. After a month her demeanor was totally different she would hiss and strike at me when i went to change her water she was very aggressive at this point, she would curl her water bowl, she did a pre-lay shed. I got no eggs :(. Back to square one, the male is in with her again, this time he is way more aggressive toward her.

I dont think that you are supposed to cut off her feeding. Thats how they build. You should be feeding alot actually. You should always offer food. When they are close to ovulating many will stop eating on their own but not all.

Let me rephrase the I cut off her feeding. She actually did that on her own. She stopped eating and put herself in the whole breeding mode. I was freaking out being a newbee and all. I inherited her from a friend and she was eating just fine!! Trust me on that, she would eat the biggest rat I could find, then poof not a nibble. But I have good news she's in a lock up with a spider the same male I put her with originally. This time he's aggressively locking with her over and over... :) So a week of this then a break and back in he goes and we'll try it again :)

Sorry about that. These threads can easily get carried away and the subject changed, I've had it happen on mine with no answers. I would imagine that they could ovulate without pre ovy shed. From what I hear they are all on their own schedule's. It sounds like mine are exactly in the same situation as yours. Mine all had sheds exactly one month ago and I assumed it was a pre ovy shed but I havent seen any ovy's yet and I dont know an approximate timeline after pre ovy shed and ovulation. Also has she been on the hot spot or the cool side? They generally sit on the hot spot all the time after ovulation. Sorry I cant be more help. Good luck though.

Pre lay shed comes after ovulation.

Building, ovulation, pre-lay shed, then delivery of eggs.
