White's tree frogs.. or?

Doing some research for possible future pets. I've always wanted to get more frogs and I just love whites tree frogs!

We have a hexagon tank, it's more tall than wide, it ends up being about 36 gallons. Curious how many frogs would be comfortable in a tank that size? :D I love the froggie communities I see people with, and I love to hear them sing.. My plan is to have some fairly large branches in the middle to give them more places to climb--take advantage of all that empty space in the middle.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm open to other ideas as well for what will one day fill this cage! :)

I had a 20 tall with two white's tree frogs although they don't do a lot of active climbing. They pretty much stuck to the top of the tank behind some false plants. They came down to soak and to eat the pinky mice/rats. They were never very active in my experience. I'm not sure how many you can hold in that tank. We rescued them from a house so we inherited the equipment. This was many years ago! They live a super long time though. Overall, they were great pets!

Alright, thanks for the info! :D I'll keep waiting to see if anyone else chimes in. I'm in no rush, just sort of satisfying my curiosity. I know I wouldn't use this tank for fish as I tend to like the air breathing fish like bettas and tall tanks just aren't good for them!

I would say that 2 frogs would be comfortable in that size tank. While they are pretty lazy frogs, they need the space to lunge and leap for crickets. They are a large tree frog, so thick leaved plants and lots of branches to make good use of your space. They have great personalities and I love mine very much! Let us know what you decide to go with :)

:D Thanks! There are so many fun options, I'm totally not sure! I am really leaning towards the white's tree frogs simply because they are so much easier to care for than a lot of frogs. As much as I'd like to see some cute little dart frogs in there I know I would struggle a bit with them and I'd rather get more frog experience first!

Though.. Part of me just wants a big boy tokay gecko.... :rolleyes: I think that's where I'm stuck. Tokay or froggies!

Oh and there is a great care sheet on frogforum.net. It even features a picture of one of my White's when she was younger (I did not take the picture, founder John Clare did. I bought a couple snakes from him too, super nice guy) . :D My frog made the calender in 2010 too :D. Anyways, check out the site, lots of great info and advice there.

u should just buy some poison arrow frogs from me... i have some beautiful ones for a smokin' good price ;) they are much more fun to watch than whites tree frogs.... i have 3 whites n being nocturnal u dont get to see them active as much as a dart frog ;) lol just my opinion.. send me a pm if u want some darts' ;) :banana:
