    Hypo or Ghost ??
So I'm confused on the term ghost for hypos I was under the impression that the term ghost was only for an axanthic x hypo can someone with a better understanding of the hypo trait in ball pythons please break it down for me.

A True Ghost is an Axanthic Hypo...

Ghost is a nickname that was given to Hypos...

It will take some time but the more people that use hypo instead of ghost the sooner it will become the norm :)

A lot of us here in the UK use the term ghost, although hypo is becoming more common, especially with breeders. I don't see the problem myself-ghost is beautifully descriptive of how the snakes look. True ghost is ghost x axanthic but apart from that the terms are pretty much interchangeable.

The first "ghost" I knew of was the corn snake combo of anerythristic (the corn snake version of axanthic) and hypomelanistic. So a lot of people felt that the single gene mutation in balls should have been called hypomelanistic (hypo for short) and reserve "ghost" for the combo with axanthic (hence the "true ghost" name for that combo). I'm as guilty as anyone of not getting with the program and always using hypo rather than the now established "ghost" but maybe it's headed that way.

So is ghost the same as orange ghost? or are they two separate recessives? D:

Thanks everyone for helping clear this up, I was planning on asking this same question tonight, but now there's no need.

I think there separate traits of the same gene but are apparently compatible with each other.
