    female losing some weight
Hello all! Just a quick question about if it is "normal" for a female to lose weight during breeding season. Here is the background. Last shed 1/10/11, last meal (she has been refusing since) 1/28/11, last lock (has been refusing since 3/1). She weighed 1718g on 1/11/11, 1734g on 2/18/11 and has dropped down to 1686g as of yesterday. The first pic is from 3/14 and the second one is from today. I am wondering if females will sometimes lose some weight and still drop eggs. Thanks for any input!!

That is not a very significant weight loss matter of fact an animal that size can lose that amount and more by defecating.

Not knowing if the weight was on empty or not there might not even be a weight loss.

    Nothing to be concerned about.

Luckily I am anal about record keeping! lol! She pooped on 2/12 and the last time was 2/21. She has been urinating though but I don't mark those down. Thanks for the help! I just got worried becuase I "assumed" that if they are going to lay eggs they should gain weight.

Your record keeping is great. Weight loss is normal during breeding season and is nothing to be concerned about. It's important that females are at a healthy weight prior to the season because of this reason. When a female builds and produces eggs, they don't miraculously gain weight from nothing. Weight gain is only from eating food. Everything you've recorded sounds completely normal to me. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I don't want to miss anything! lol! She is driving me a little crazy, especially since she started locking again.
