Who knew a SNAKE could change your life..
I thought I was just taking in a "cute" snake to nurse back to health.. Little did I know I'd catch a little bug that made me completely obsessed with ball pythons and all things related!! :P
95% of my day is now spent thinking about, talking about, caring for my ball python and dying a little with how badly I want another. LOL
And on top of all of that, I do believe owning Slevin has completely changed my future career as well. I've always planned on studying to become an Equine Veterinarian.. but now I'm leaning more towards Herp Vet seeing as there are so few.
    Addiction is a severe understatement.

*Cue the beginning of the rest of my life*

OMG I'm sooo glad I am not the only one....

I knew I always loved snakes, but it wasn't until I got my little normal guy Julius that I really feel in love. I have also thought about becoming a herp vet as well, since I'm going to school for general studies lol. I love my little guy so much, and seeing my 4 y/o son hold him and pet him and tell me how much he loves him, is the highlight of my whole day. We now have our newest addition, who I love just as much. I can't wait to expand and really care for these wonderful little critters. :D

Definitely, It's been so difficult finding Exotic Vets anywhere near me, yet there are so many Equine Vets.. I think I'd be more successful in the Herp department.

Oh I know, I've always LOVED snakes.. begged my parents to let me own one since I was about 12 but they always refused. I think it's great to raise kids around snakes, hopefully it will lead to a future with more tolerance for the beautiful creatures.

One of the reason why I took dvm was for my dogs, but when I had my first snake (a banana king snake named xuxa), I know Id go for bein a herp vet. Though I have a "different" job right now, Im still practicing what I do and love best every weekends or day offs, and occasional duty calls by my colleagues. Good luck in pursuing your passion :)

I wanted to be an Equine Vet because I've owned horses and mini donkeys for about 9 years, but my BP definitely changed that :)
So, you're a certified Herp Vet now?

Not a certified herp vet yet. But hoping :). Our country doesnt offer a special curriculum for herp medicine that will certify you as a herp vet. Vet graduate, yes. Licensed, not yet. Im so stubborn (and maybe a lil afraid lol) in taking the licensure exam. Meaning, every practice that I do needs to be supervised by a licensed vet. Im not worthy to be called a certified vet nor herp vet. Very few of us here chooses to specialize on herps. And most of us simply rely on personal experiences w/ pets, tons of literatures, and forums just like BP.net.
