Cypress mulch

I've read a million things on different types of bedding. But it seems that i keep getting mixed views on this. Is cypress mulch good to use for by ball pythons?

I'm just switching some things up for my female. Shes been off feed for about 2 months now. But I feel some thurough cleaning and switching some things up would help my conscience.

I'd like to hear back about this as well. Am considering switching from aspen to cypress to help with humidity issues. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

I use cypress for my BP. It holds the humidity levels really good, smells good, and looks natural.

I switched away from cyprus due to environmental reasons it isn't a very 'green' product if that matters to you. I use coco coir now it hold humidity better than cyprus did and is much cheaper. I liked cyprus it is just an ethical issue for me.

Thanks very much for the input! I could understand that, Kitedemon...I do woodworking as well and know that the prices of cypress can reflect it's availability. Thank you guys very much for the info and opinions.

Ok i can understand ethical reasons, but that is not my main concern. I've heard some places say that cypress is toxic, is there any truth to that?

And how many of you guys use Cypress Mulch?

if its treated with some kind of chemical it is .but the ones they sell in pet stores are 100% natural and is actually one of the best substrate out there

You may be thinking of cedar, which IS toxic to reptiles. Cypress works great as a substrate, I use it for all our ball pythons and blood pythons.

I just get giant bags of cypress from home depot or somethin for like 2 dollars for a massive bag. Then I bring it home, let it dry out, and actually bake it for a while to kill anything in it. Basically as long as you do that with bags you dont get from a pet store the snakes will be fine.
