What type of Boa is this?
We have several ball pythons and recently decided we wanted to try our hand at larger snakes. My wife's niece had what she called a red tail boa that she wanted to sell because of a new baby in her home. We bought him from her over a month ago and have him quarantined from the other snakes. She says she obtained him from someone about 2 years ago and that person said he had the snake for about 3 years, making him at least 5 years old. We thought it a bit strange that he was 5 years old and was around 5 feet in length. That seemed to be on the smaller size of what we thought was a Columbian red tail boa. I recently saw a classified ad of a Nicaraguan boa that looked just like our snake so now I'm a bit confused as to what type of boa we actually have. Here are a few photos of our snake. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It looks like a Columbian BCI to me. 5 feet is not all that unusual for a Columbian male. I can tell you that my adult Nic male is only about 3-3.5 feet.

Yup, as was said it's a good high contrast Columbian BCI to me too.
5 ft is a little on the smaller end for a Columbian boa because they are not one of the "dwarf" species, but it's not unheard of.

    It's probably a columbian/BCI.
If not over fed, they will stay smaller/grow slower.

    I'm sending you a pm.
