Quarantine procedure?

I am bringing in a rescue snake on Monday hopefully and this will be my second ball python. I plan to quarantine and have a space set up in a separate room and everything I was just wondering what everybody's standard quarantine procedures were since I've never done it before. Don't want my guy to get sick!

I keep them separated from the rest of my collection for a minimum of 90 days. The have all their own equipment. I don't mix anything. After the 90 days if all seems well then I will add it to my collection. I also wash my hands before I consider handling another snake.

I treat tubs of all new snakes going into quarrantine with PAM (provent a mite). I have never had a mite problem and being proactive is the best way to keep it like that.

45 days is a minimum for me some go longer depends on the animals history. When I do a show everything goes into quarrantine when they come back like a new snake would. Once again proactive can save many headaches.

In addition to what the others have suggested, make sure you tend to your established collection first before the QT animal. Most recommend a separate set of tools/utensils, but if you do have to use the same set, make sure you thoroughly clean and disinfect them before and after using them in the QT room...

I agree with the above posts. I have the separate room, utensils, also if you should try and feed and it's not accepting. Don't feed the prey to one of your established prey. If it's live put it down and freeze it. Or maintain the feeder in a separate feeder cage and try feeding the animal again in a week. I also use rubber gloves on all qt animals. It's just easier for me.

I've been quarantining mine for around 75 days and am continuing to do so; planning to put them in the same rack with my others in a week or so.

When I got my first snake 2 weeks ago. The day before I got him, I prepped/cleaned his enclosure with clorox disinfecting wipes, then wiped it down with water, then let it dry. Then I proceeded to setup his enclosure with the necessary husbandry. And the following day he was in his enclosure.

I do 60 days min, and don't touch them at all till I'm done messing with my established collection, just in case my hand washing isn't up to par. And make sure you don't mix any utensils, dishes, tubs, etc.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Hopefully should be getting the new snakey tomorrow and I don't know what kind of shape he/she is in yet. I don't even know the sex yet. I'm guessing I'll have to buy a new tank because from what I can gather it is in a 20 gal which is far too small for a 5 year old snake. Anyone know of a good place to get a 30 gal breeder for a little cheaper?
