Can anyone recommend a rescue for a Red Ear Slider in North Texas?

My sister has a 5" RES and she can no longer care for it. I have to find it a home this weekend. I was going to find a nice pond with tons of RES in it of all sizes but that is my last option......I don't want to release a captive born/raised turtle if I don't have to. I am going to search for a pet store that is reputable and can care for it but most stores are Petsmarts/Petco's and won't take him.
