    "Inherited" Ball Python
My g/f and I were babysitting a bp while her friend was going through a rough time. a year has gone by and now he says he doesnt want/ cant have it back:O. he gave us snake, cage, lamps, uth, cabinet under cage:cool:. The Triton is 4 years old and 53" long. Has never had any problems with eating, shedding, aggresiveness, or sickness. This is the way the cage is set up.

I am adding digital thermometer with a probe and hygrometer this weekend
Ive been reading on here that the uth is just that under the tank, it is on the side of this cage, it only one hide. i was wondering if i should leave the cage alone or should i change it to suggestions of many people on here. the tank runs at 83 to 86 ambient temp with 45 to 50 percent humidity. i am actually happy he couldnt take him back:banana::banana::banana:, (for us not him, sad for him). Anyway, any suggestions, comments or help greatly appreciated.

p.s.: will have more pics next week.
p.s.s: Sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasnt sure if it should go here or in husbandry

    2 identical hides.

You really dont need the lamps if you have a uth and your ambient temp is around 80.

He will get all the heat from the uth.

Honestly, if the snake is eating regularly and shedding completely, I don't see any reason to change what you're doing. You'll get some people who will tell you that you have to have two identical hides or that the half log hides aren't good enough for a bp, but if your snake is eating and shedding, that's the best indicator that you're doing something right. If it ain't broke... :gj:

I personally wouldn't change the setup.
I have had viv's setup with the uht's on the side walls before and never had any problems.
If the snake is happy (eating, shedding and pooing)and it certainly looks healthy,
I would leave it as it is.

Looks good enough! Keep your temps and humidity at the right levels and you're good to go. Couldn't help but noticing how shiny and sleek he looks in your picture, nice!

I'll be the black sheep and suggest you update his setup. I don't mind the logs but I think the single entrance ones are better. I think monitoring heat with a probe is smart. I don't believe in the "ain't broke" thing mentioned here. IMO prevention is key with health. Dealing with stuff when it is a real problem is usually much more dangerous, painful for you and the snake and more expensive. He looks like a big healthy guy, and let's keep it that way :). Good luck

If it's been in that set-up the whole year you've had him with no problems... no need to go all crazy changing stuff.
