so i was paring my female until i thought she started to build, than i stop paring them (after6-8 locks) but she still hasn't shed after several weeks so i put my male back in with her and they locked up right away, with the "end" of the breeding season coming closer how much longer should i try to keep putting them together?

I'd say keep rotating him in until you see eggs. Just make sure you give him a break for a few days at a time and offer him a rat from time to time, if he takes a mid season feeding it will help him out.
