What size cage should I get for my jungle carpet python? He is in a ten gallon tank but his.size.is starting to make me plan ahead. He is almost a year old.

A year old tells us nothing. All snakes grow at different rates depending on the snake and how much you feed etc.

    How BIG is he?

Well I think the minimum size for a JCP is a 30 gallon so I would start there. Many people say if you have a snake in a tank too big it might not eat. When I had my other JCPs (before i sold them) I had them in a tall tank as babies and they did just fine. some people say if you have to put a snake in a tank you may think is too big for him you should first put A hide/basking spot/ and water dish in there, then fill the rest of the room up with ball up news papers to fill the empty space so to the snake it seems like there isnt a lot of space. Ive never had to do that with my snakes so its just a suggestion.

I have a 4 foot jungle carpet in a 40 breeder I'll be keeping him in this for the rest of his life unless an issue arises.

Are you sure he's almost a year old?....14" seems small in my opinion.

Yeah that seems very small. I just got my first Coastal Carpet this weekend. She is about a month old and easily hitting the 14 inch mark. Right now she is in a twenty tall but I will be moving her into a 40 gallon breeder when she starts to grow.
