    New Pattern mutation?
Has anyone seen 2 different colored ears? I have produced a handful of these guys with either 2 different colored ears or spots on their ears. I am holding all of them back for a new breeding group. I'm hoping to be able to reproduce the trait. Has anyone else seen this?

It's not a colour mutation. It's just white spoting effecting the ears. I have some with speckly ears, some with black, and some with white. ;)

It's not a gene causing it, like there would be for saddle or headspot markings, just white spotting effecting the ears is all. :)

    Cut though.

I won't know too much more until I create a group and breed them together. I'm not too knowledgeable with rat genetics, but I do know that the same group of asf's is responsible for producing them. I have a few more babies that are a few weeks old with a ear of each color from that same group. I suspect their is something going on because the group is very consistent with throwing them.:)

It is 'something going on' but it's caused by the white spotting gene affecting the ears. :P

    Hey,

my platinums have often ones that are not so good coloured, one white ear, or both.

I actually also have a albino one - red eyes, no black in it, donīt know what he is.. looks like a normal albino :)

Here you can see some photos:

There is no albino (c/c) in ASFs right now that is known to exist. What you have is either a pink eyed white, or a ruby eyed white. ;)
