do you have to lower temps for breeding ????????

hi i wanted to know if you poeple lower your temps for breeding ball pythons ,and if not what is the best temps for breeding ,as i have not lowered my temps from 90f i have had locks since december but the past 3 weeks i have had nothing ,also i have not seen bowl wrapping ect ....

I lowered mine this year and it seems to be working perfectly but I hear a lot of people do not and it works fine for them as well.

so what temps did you lower yours too ??

I lowered the rooms ambient temperature to 68 so the cool ends get around 73-75 but kept hot spots up to 90 degrees and I'm getting bowl wrapping and breeding still going since September.

Right now I have my hot spot at 90 degrees during the day and 84 at night. My cool side is at 80 during the day and 74 at night. I have another thread going where I'm asking if my temps are right but no one has responded but I believe they are right or at least close.

so do you keep these temps 90f hot day and night and cold 73f-75f all day and night

I also don't lower my temps. It sounds like I do about the same thing Jerry does, let the ambient temps change and keep my hot spot the same. I run an oil heater in my snake room to keep ambient temps at 70, and keep my hot spot at 90. That's what I did last year and had success, this year I've got girls that are close to ovulation, if I didn't miss it again :rolleyes:

You only keep ambient at 70? I've got my room at 78-80. Am I too warm?

mines 80 in the summer, 70 in the winter. just because thats what my temps in the house are, but it works out good for breeding season also

I dropped my temps this year, I did not last year. All my ball pythons had locks, regardless of dropping or not.

this is my first breeding but i have a cool end of 70-75 depending on the room. hot spot around 92 and ambient in the back is around 80. this way i have had solid locks multiple times. the only time they didnt lock was the past two days but my male is in shed so he prolly didnt want to
