Looking to ad a few smaller pythons to my collection.

I'm looking to build a new rack and ad a few smaller pythons to my collection. i was looking to stay smaller then a 41qt tub, but since i hand build my racks i could use anything. anyone have any ideas? i was looking at the spotted python's but i couldnt find a tub size for an adult. any help would be great. thanks guys

Wal Mart for sure would have the tubs you need. Try buying online and picking up in store. They usually have quantity discounts on vaious sized sterelites. I picked up 6 41 qt sterelite tubs from them for 45 bucks.

I keep my Spotted & Stimson's pythons in 41qt tubs, but to be honest they'd be just fine in something a bit smaller... I'd say a 28 or 30qt, more or less, would work okay for an adult. Just depends on how active they are, I guess!

Thanks, thats what i was after. how is the personallity of your spotted? does it have a pretty good attitude? Snippy? Thanks

You could also look into anthill pythons. They are a bit pricey but are great looking snakes. There is also the savu pythons. They are orange and hatchlings and juvies but as adults they go through ontogenesis and start to turn darker but keep some speckling.

If your not dead set on pythons there is always rosy, sand and rubber boas. Along with the viper boa, though almost all of them are imports. They are still a very interesting species.

A male Blood might also do well as an adult in a 41 quart. They are a little smaller than the females, but do get pretty big - 4-6 feet and very girthy.
A male Woma would also be ok in a 41 quart - 4-6 feet as adults and super cool snakes! I'll likely add one to my collection at some point I'm sure.

yea i would love to have a viper, but i have never seen a nice one. everyone i have met wanted to eat me. but i havnt had much luck with boas personality wise. they all seem to be pretty snippy and unpredictable for me. thats y i wanted to stay in the python area.

I have wanted a blood for years now. i think there may be post on here from me a few years ago asking about them, but i was worried because of there girth fitting in a tub. i wasn't sure if it would be tall enough. i have looked on a few sites but i didn't find anything real conclusive to a tub size for them.

what ever i get i would like the heat range to be simalar to the balls so i dont need to buy a new thermostat. because i can adjust humidity with water bowl placement and amount of holes in the tub.

Nice setup! It looks like if you did something on the bottom like you have on the top (minus the overhead light but the same space and such,) you could do a blood. I just picked up a pair of CBB Sumatran reds and am loving them. If you get captive bred and born, you can tame them up nice. I'm liking them even more than some of my cranky balls.
They're in a 15qt tub now and will then scale up to a 32, then to a 41, then I'll either have to get a vision cage or build a custom tub from a christmas tree-sized stand alone tub.
