    Betadine and Nolvasan Question
I was in my local feed store the other day and saw that they carry both betadine and nolvasan. I know these are both good products. Im just wondering what % bedatine I should buy for soaking my bp's how much to dilute it, and how much I should dilute the nolvasan for cleaning tubs and hides?

Why are you using betadine? Don't just use it because... it can produce bacteria resistant to it and then it will not work when you need it.

novasan is a 2% clorohexidine I believe then a typical dilution is 1 oz to a quart. REMEMBER the tub must be spotlessly clean first organic particles make it inert.

Ok...i guess i was misinformed on the bedatine thing.... Is it just for cuts and scale rot? Currently im using chlorhexadine 2% glucanate witch is not the same as nolvasan. I dilute it a half ounce per 24 ounces of water and spray it straight on the tubs (poop and all) and wipe them out. Thats how the company I first ordered it from says to use it. Should i just follow that with diluted nolvasan?

That fine, but CHG on poop doesn't do anything at all, it becomes inactive in contact with organic compounds. Scrub with soap and water, rinse, rinse again, remove most of the water, spray or dip with CHG wait for 20 min for it to work rinse or pat dry. It isn't a magical short cut, it is a finishing treatment.

I use betadine for just cuts and other medical things like that. I don't use it as a cleaner. If you are using it for medical then you will not have an issue. Betadine 10% solution.

do you use the betadine full strength or diluted? If so how much bedatine to water?

I use it full strength for cuts and scrapes or bites. I had a rescue with scale rot tho and my vet had suggested doing a dilute bath with it. I filled up the bath half way up her sides and then put the beta in the water and made it a watery coffee color. It worked great!
