Building= the building of follicles (which if she has mated) will turn into eggs.
Yes they become voracious during this time

They might eat or eat
Consistently until ovulation. But the female will spend more time on the coolside generally wrapped around the water bowl. Building is building up the egg follicles for ovulation. They also tend to look lumpy. Building is the step after cooling and then comes ovulation and then egg lay and then HATCHING!! My favorite time of the year.
