    Bangka Bloods :))
I've been drooling over the ones for sale on bloodpythons.com all day. I'm pretty sure I'm start my blood addiction with one of these guys. I'm a sucker for rare localities. Blood python + rare locality = me dishing out cash. I was wondering if they have any special attributes or characteristics other than their gorgeous coloration? Such as a different temperment or size compared to other bloods? Any of you lucky few who have these chime in. :)))

Smaller than average, they are an insular after all

    Smoother scales

    Smaller clutches

    Bloods are VERY color/lineage priced

Always get the nicest you can afford of course

Bangkas are nice for sure, and a lot of people like to say Bangkas are redder than most. Thats not the case, as there are very nice Sumatrans and the rare true Malaysians.
You do see different patterns of shades of red between each locality as well.

My advice, do your research and see what some babies look like as hatchlings and then as adults so you know what to look for. Dont just assume since its an expensive animal that its going to look good later on.

Ryan does have some nice Bangkas thats no question

    HTH in some way

Thank you for your insight as always! I am going to get the best one I can afford, and I plan on doing a bit more research. The parents really do tell the story with these guys.

Since we're on the topic of locality bloods:

Is there any particular locality of brongersmai that is bigger on average than the rest?

Theres freaks all across the board

But for the most part, TRUE Malaysians are the biggest.

Youd be shocked at how small Bangkas can be, and how big the biggest can be.

I had a girl that I had to put down due to RI that was JUST SHY of 7 feet.

Ive also had Bangkas that maxed out at like 3.5 feet.

They truly do stay really really small for the most part.

But again, there are freaks out there.

I like that bangkas stay small, but size does not really matter to me. I just want a big red snake. I think the massive girth of blood pythons compared to their length makes people underestimate them. A 6' carpet python is a LOT different than a 6' blood python.
