    Handling Concern
i went to a local zoo that has this petting section and saw some snakes being displayed for petting. then it crossed my mind if these snakes are there, say about 2 hours tops, would they get lactic acid build up in their muscles due to all the handling? or there is no such thing to them?

    TIA!

Lactic acid buildup occurs when using fast-twitch muscles. This is primarily from very high intensity work (which for us is sprinting and for a snake would be moving fast and striking type activities). This would not be an issue. However, stress induced by so much handling could potentially be an issue for the snakes.

i see. so, lets say a snake is being uncoiled by its handler would that sum up as being stressful to them? and are there any ways we could get rid of lactic acid build up if the snake was handled too much less the shorten the handling time?
