Garter Snake Pics (Common but cool!)
I was going through my computer's hard drive today looking through my pic files, and I forgot all about these ones that I snapped of a garter snake last fall.
I was hiking with the kids in Carley State Park in Minnesota on an early October afternoon. I was really surprised to see a snake out, because it was maybe 50 degrees out at most.
This is the first snake I ever saw in the wild as a kid, and although they are fairly common, I never tire of seeing one of these in their natural habitat.
Enjoy!

I'm not sure if there are red sided ones where I live in MN -- the yellow striped common ones are the only ones I have ever seen.
I think the San Francisco Garters are awesome! It's a shame that they are endangered -- I think seeing one of those would be really cool -- although I don't think I will ever have the chance of seeing one!

I never get tired of garters! I myself actually own a Wandering Garter (Thamnophis elegans vagrans). Thanks for sharing!
