Lighting Question

It is familiar to most Ball Python owners that too much light can cause unnecessary stress to your Ball Pythons.
However, my question is:
Is there any negative effect known for lack of lighting, or little amounts of light per day on BP's?

IMO no. My BPs are in the basement, and although I have two windows in the snake/rat room very little light actually gets in there.
