First time breeder & need some advice

Im pairing my male spider to my big normal female & since ive put him in with her shes been laying on him. I checked to see if he was okay today because they havent moved much & underneath them is wet like theyve been in the water dish. The female usually stays on the warm side most of the day but since ive put him in they hasnt moved from cool side at all. Is this typical breeding behavior?

They tend to pile up when they aren't locked, but it's not breeding behavior per se. :D

yea that is typical. and the wetness could be urine from when one of them, probably the female scented up the tub to arose the male. totally normal and doesn't need to be cleaned up until the pairing cycles over or you observe a lock.

I remove water bowls when pairing, they always spill them anyways and I don't want them sitting in water for a day or two while they are locked up and I don't want to interrupt them either, so no water bowls during breeding.

When the female sits on the male she is telling him NO.
I allow females to sit on males for no more than 12 hours or so, if she doesn't relent then I pull the male and try him again in a couple of days :P

Lastnight I seen a lock. He's been in since Saturday so today I took him out for his three days of rest. the female has been a lot more active ever since the male was removed. Does this have anything to do with the lock? I'm sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.

Her activity level is probably more due to the fact she didn't want him in with her and she now has her space to her self :P
When the female says no she means no, lol.
That doesn't mean she will say no the next time though ;)

(I really want spider babies, but my normal male is much larger and even though he doesn't have any experience either, it just seems like he might do better at getting the job done!).

Anyway, speaking of urniation and scenting -- about 15 minutes after I put them together the tub was full of urine. So, then this is a good sign?? I still haven't witnessed any locking yet (when either of the males have been with her). But hopefully this is an indication that something might be happening??

My male is small too he's 9 months old & about half her size. She might of been telling him no last time but she deffinitely didnt this time. I put him back in friday they locked three times, Saturday they locked twice, & their locked right now. I went out & got everything for a styrofoam incubator today except the thermometer & hydrometer so that I'm prepared when she lays.
