    The Dreaded GTP Skin Fold...
I took out my GTP neo to weigh her the other day and she has a skin fold :(. I don't really care, she's healthy and happy and growing well, just kinda bummed. We used 3/8" pipe to create perches for them so its our fault, thought that size would be small enough. I can't honestly say I did or didn't notice if it was there when we got them. I only handled her shortly to put her way the first day and just to clean cages and take a few pictures after that. I never really handled her as far as letting her crawl around on my hand, just held her as little as possible.

Our other neo is fine, he doesn't have any signs of one even though he had 3/8" perches too. I made new perches that day using plastic coat hangers (which we should have done in the first place :().

Anyway here are the pics. from Tuesday.

What causes the skin fold? It's a perch size thing, not a genetic thing? (Sorry, don't know nothin' about GTPs, but I definitely do want one eventually...)

No one knows for sure, there are a lot of theories I've read about, from perch sizes to genetics to neos being housed together before their first shed and "piling up" on top of each other. Some say they can grow out of it and if a breeder has one they will still produce normal offspring. Its basically a cosmetic thing but it affects their value .
