Is paint safe for a snake rack?
My husband and I built my first snake rack. I will post photos once it is completed. I was wondering how to coat the wood to make it so the humidity won't warp it. Can I use exterior house paint? Will this work and is this safe for the snakes? Or should I use something else? I have plenty of house paint interior and exterior from home improvements last year. So I'd like to be able to use what I already have if I can. Thanks!

exterior paints outgas alot, thats why they are exterior paints, I would stay away from them. also not all of them seal.

There a few routes you could go, I think the easiest is using a sealer then painting over that. in my experience water based products out gas less and just look better lol. make sure the cage is done outgassing before you add the animal.

Thanks! I did go with the paint. I was just worried about the fumes. It turned out great. Posting a new topic with the photo of my rack. :)
