How accurate is the prelay shed timing?

I was just wondering how accurate the time line is that they lay 27 days after prelay shed. Is that the earliest they can lay or is it a pretty accurate time line?

I would say that my females typically lay around day 28-35; however, my earliest was day 22 and latest was day 45. And I've heard of earlier and later.

I believe 27 days is an average. My first season breeding, I only bred one female. She had her pre-lay shed and laid her eggs 60 days later!

In most cases egg laying will happen withing 27-35 days after pre-lay shed however I have had a female laying 50 days after pre-lay as well but most fall between that time line.

Yep 53 days later for me. So if she is late don't stress too much! I would think early is much less common than late. Good luck! :gj:

I am not too stressed! I am on day 31 but I just wanted an idea of how much longer I have to wait! I am just too excited and impatient! :D

I Gave up last year ( first year) because 55 days after the last shed she was fat, gave up on eating a while back and wouldn't except my boy.. but didn't lay....

a little over 60 days after her last shed she drops 8 eggs!
