    Need advice on next purchase
    Hi everyone.
At this moment I have only 3 ball pythons - a piebald and a butterpastel female, and a bumblebee male.
I decided what Im going to do with the piebald project so thats covered.

Soon I am going to add another python to the collection, and my thoughts are
    1. lemonblast/kingpin female(or something simmilar) to pair with the bumblebee
    2. BEL(supermojave) female - if I manage to get a phantom/mystic male in the future to pair her with him, if not, I would pair her with the bumblebee
    3. clown female - that would mean I would also have to get another clown or codom het clown in the future to pair with her.

I would like to keep my collection at around 8 or so animals cause I got limited space for them. Thats the reason I am afraid I would go "too wide" with the clown as its another reccesive in such a small collection. But BEL + mystic also means 2 new snakes.

I know I should breed what I like, but who doesnt love BELs(purplepassions) or clowns :)

    Any advices are welcome!
If you got another idea, please suggest. I would even take a desert female if they were any cheaper here.

I personally would go with the clown. You really wouldn't need to pick up an extra male as you could breed something like your bee to her. You'd already have a clown female to breed one of the males (bee het clown) from her back to her the next year. It would cut your time frame down at least a year if you wanted to do it that way instead of buying another male. If you wanted to go about buying another male I'd suggest a bee het or lesser het...

I agree. Or a male with something pied. Like a black pastel het pied male (panda pieds!) or mojave het pied.

Dont worry about the pieds..i got them already covered, since I will be getting a male pied in a year or so when the female gets bigger.. :)Thats why I said i decided what I`m going to do with them.

Now, the problem is its either to widen the base for multigene breeding for my bumblebee male(lemonblast female etc.) or to start a project for clowns or mystic potion project(with supermojave female that I can always breed with bumblebee - but that wouldnt be ideal)

Whatever i choose, it will be final, since I wont have room for new projects anytime soon.

    @Luke Martin
Yeah, that isnt a bad idea either..if I go that way, I might get a pastel het female, and in 2 years a clown male..

I love the clowns, but as I said..I think it might be too much animals for my small collection with 2 recesive projects :)

I would go with a lemonblast or kingpin female, there are tons of possibilities there. But its definitely a good idea to have a plan of what YOU like and want in your collection. All the choices you gave are great. You really can't go wrong with morphs (unless you get two males or incompatible hets, lol).

However, you said you want to keep your collection to 8 or so due to space and already have three BPs. If you buy a few more you'll be getting close to your limit. Then say you breed only one girl a year you need to account for the room needed for all the hatchlings (possibly anywhere from 1-5,6,7 +), an incubator and be prepared to care for all of them for an unknown amount of time. I'm sure if you've already decided to breed you know what your getting in to ;), just wanted to through that out there though since you could end up with a much larger collection than you originally planed.

the above seems good start, apart from:

i'd sell the male bee, and replace him with a killer, simply because everything will be pastel+
and when put to your visual recessives, you would get pastels and bees het pied/clown

In those "around 8" animals, I dont count hatchlings. Im thinking about it, and they will be well taken care of. Its "around 8" animals that I intend to keep more or less constantly.
Yeah, was already looking at incubators also, but since Im about 2 years from first clutch I thought I was looking too far :)

You guys talked me out of the supermojave :D

About the bumblebee male, I am aware that killer would eliminate the chance of normal hets, but for now I m sticking with him, he could be replaced only by his offspring if I ever get that lucky(like queen bee male). That way, I would atleast add another gene to the pool of chances :)
