Quick question about watering for racks?
I've noticed a lot of people have their water res. like 6 inches from the ceiling. Now two questions arise, 1. do you use a lid? and 2. How do you fill the res. that close to the ceiling, mine right now since I've just got a few small racks I just stand on a stool and fill with a bucket. But with plans to expand I will need to go higher and being a short 5'4" I don't know how else I could do it.

If you plumb a rack you only need to put the reservoir on some 2x2 on the top of the rack, how close it will be to the ceiling will depends on how high the ceiling is and how high your rack is, obviously you need to plan on enough space to fill up your buckets.

I have a one step stool to allow me to fill up my buckets and I am 5'7 but between the rack an the bucket height I cannot reach the top without a little help.

I recommend using the lids to avoid dust, insect etc to fall in the bucket.

To refill well it depends on your setup, I have faucet and a coil water hose like this http://www.flat-hoses.com/spring-coil-garden-hose.html so it makes filling the reservoirs easy.

I'm 5 foot nothing. There's no way I can fill a bucket on the top of the rack. One of the reasons I used flexible tubing instead of pvc is so that I can just take the bucket down to refill it and put it back up on the rack.

I use a step ladder and a 5 gal bucket, just dump it in....
I use a lid with a small hole drilled in it, otherwise the crud just builds up in the bottom.

They do sell a quick connect that you install on the bucket. So if you can't dump water in from the top, you just disconnect it and fill it with water and put it back up and re-connect it.
Here is a link to Reptile Basics site with the quick connect.
