How are snakes able to swallow whole?
Can someone explain to be the process in which snakes (pythons specifically) expand there jaws to swallow there prey whole. Do they dislocate or just expand there jaw, please answer with very good detail.
Also please give me some reticulated python & komodo dragon facts.Like where they are from, maximum length exc..
I may seem stupid for not knowing this but please do not flame me, i am simply trying yo learn.

it never ceases to amaze me how a snake's anatomy is designed for it to do all that and i'm awe-stricken every time i watch my bp swallow a rat. it's usually when she's gotten to the back leg/hip portion of the rat's body where i start to go "is she gonna be able to open up THAT wide to take all that in?" and sure enough every time i think that she proves me wrong. i keep forgetting that the back legs fold backwards as the snake's mouth moves over them.
i find the funniest part of that swallowing process is when my girl has the front 1/3 of her body standing straight up with her nose pointing towards the top of her terrarium (using gravity to help the rat slide down into her belly).
