co2 chamber question

hey anyone who has a co2 chamber may be able to answer this.

Anyways i got a Co2 canister. Remote on the way. So my question was. The tubs you use as ur gas chamber. Is it air tight? If so how? :confused:

Because all of my tubs obviously have a space between the lid and the tub, does this not matter?

What you need to do is drill a small hole in the lid and place about 12 inches of fish tank tubing so as the CO2 fill up the tank the oxygen exit the tub through the tubing.

Here's mine, it has a small hole to allow air to escape as co2 fills the chamber

I see the latch types. But does that make more of an air tight fit?

Because all the tubs i got just have a snap on lid. I didnt know if the space between the top of the tub and the lit, even tho very little. Would cause it to leak co2 once all the air is out or what not.

Heres the tub i was thinking about using. I didnt know if the space between the lid and the tub would effect how good the gas chamber worked.

No need for air tight. The CO2 is heavier than the air in the tub. As you add CO2 the air will be displaced out the top. I usually just turn my CO2 on as low flow as possible and leave it running till the rodents stop breathing, then wait another full minute, shut the gas off, wait another 2 minutes.

Yea, air tight isn't good, think about it, you're pumping gas/air into a container, what happens when a balloon gets too much air... boom! Boom is not good :(

I mean the tub around the seal be sorta air tight. not the entire container. I will have a hose running from it to another container with water in it.

I was just worried about the tub leaking co2

Yeah those tubs leak a lot i'm not sure I'd use one.
You don't want air tight but you also don't want to leak all of the co2 out of the lid.
