help with zilla 40 breeder humidity
Hello all
I've just got a new zillla 40 breeder with locking screen top and am having a heck of a time regulatig humidity. I live in washington dc and its really dry with all the snow and weather. I've got a gradient temp of 95 hot side and 85-88 cool side. Using heat lamp because uth aren't cutting it at night..
Paper towel substrate. Used aspen and carefresh. Didn't care for either
Any info would be appreciated
Oh and as an fyi I was thinking about putting the tank on its side to have a solid top to keep humidity in. Read: screen in front..
Re: help with zilla 40 breeder humidity
This may help, also for the lamp you can cut an out line of the lamp out of the tin foil if needed.
This is not my tutorial. The original post can be found here!!

Re: help with zilla 40 breeder humidity
Hi -- I just posted this answer to another glass tank humidity question...
I house my BP in a 30gal tank with a screen top, I had a major humidity issue too. What I did to fix it was cut out cardboard panels, covered them with tin foil and place them on top of the screen top. I cut them so they fit perfect on top, with a space for ventilation. Its nice because you can move it around as needed to raise or lower humidity.
I also use sphagnum moss and wet it, put it in a small glass dish on the warm side. This helps it evaporate and gives off humidity. I also have a big water bowl. When my BP is in shed I will moisten some moss and place it in the hide with him (not sopping wet, dont want any scale rot or anything). This has worked amazingly for me since I started doing it and I've had perfect sheds ever since!! Good luck!
