Trouble finding snake food in DFW
Up here in Denton, there is not a pet store that sells rat pups. I've got my little guys on adult mice, but want to get them on rats asap. I'm wondering if it is better to feed live/pre killed mice, or try and get them on frozen/thawed rats? Also, if any of you in North Texas know a rat breeder near Denton, PM me!
p.s.
They are all between 150-250 grams
Thanks guys!

Re: Trouble finding snake food in DFW
The best is to feed what works and his convenient for you, now if you want to switch to F/T rats it's gonna be a 2 steps operation.
Switching is not easy and well establish animals ten to switch with a little more ease.
You either need to go from live mouse to live rats as your first step than after a few successful feeding switch to F/T as your second step
Or switch from live to F/T mice and than switch to F/T rats.
Just remember switching can take time and tough love which means the animal might go weeks or months without food.

Thanks! I was just nervous about switching to frozen because they don't have a lotta meat on them yet. They all take pre-killed and I'm letting the mice cool off to room temperature so they are more used to it. Rodent pro seems amazing considering the amount of mice I'm buying every week!
Re: Trouble finding snake food in DFW
I know it's already been mentioned here but Big Cheese Rodents are great and right in your area. I'd definitely check them out. A lot cheaper on shipping than what Rodentpro is going to be. I used RodentPro once and I don't like their packaging. It came in ziplocks where Big Cheese comes in cryovac which lasts a lot longer in the freezer.

You might have already done it but try checking craigslist some times some people breed rodents for their snakes and try to sell off the excess.
