    help!! tank too hot??
i have a accurite thermometer and the probe for it is stuck to the bottom of the tank right above where the heating pad is stuck underneath the tank. right now the temp is reading 104. there is a layer of bark substrate over the probe. is this too hot for my bp? her hide is right over the pad.

Yes, I would recommend investing in a thermostat or at the very least a rheostat.

Too warm, invest in a thermostat, it's much cheaper then a vet bill.

You need some type of regulation on the UTH.
What is the temp of the glass?(the side the snake can touch)
I can have a temp difference of up to 6 degrees depending on how thick the substrate is.
So far none of my snakes dont burrow but I would rather be safe, I run my pads right at 95 to 97 and check with temp gun often to make sure they are at a good temp where they are laying.

its right around 100 under the substrate on the glass. its been like that for a few days and she has been lying on it. i just now got a thermometer with a probe so i never realized it was that hot.
