Question about downsizing and trading. Advice needed.
    Hey folks.

So I have my small collection of BP's that I planned on trying to breed this year. I might be moving, and I just don't think it's a good idea to start this project with the potential for a move. I also think it might be wise to shrink down a bit to make sure I have the time and car to keep them healthy in the event I do move.

So I was thinking it could be an opportunity to pick up a snake I've really wanted, and downsize.

    Currently I have four snakes. A 1400g Male Pastel, a 1400g Cinnamon Female, a 1200g Pinstripe Female, and a 1200g Spider Female.

I was thinking I might be able to trade someone for a Piebald or two. Juveniles or otherwise.

    Am I crazy?

    No your not crazy

Sit down and figure out a value your girls are worth and put an ad out asking for trade offers and see what comes of it.

x2...I would think you'd be able to swing a deal on a Pied easily with 3 female, almost breeder sized morphs...

Oh Piebalds are like $600-800 these days, so you could EASILY trade someone all your almost breedable BP's for a couple or a pair of Piebalds.

I agree, determine YOUR value of the snakes and see if someone wants to trade.

I believe each of those girls would be worth a low to medium white hatchling pied.

Thanks for the quick reply's everyone.

Since you seem to think highly of their value, do you think I could possibly get a larger female (800g+) and a hatching male?

It would be nice to keep the breeding project within earshot.

I would try for that. The 800g+ range and the male. GL!

Each of your females are worth (ball park figure) around $800-1000. That being said, Pieds can be found for around $650-1500. You have single gene females that are pretty common. I doubt you could easily trade a female for a pair of Pieds. You would have better luck selling a female or two and then buying a Pied or two. But who knows, anything is possible.

Then again, having a shot at producing pewters, bumblebees, and lemon blasts has to be pretty tempting, no?

If it were me, I'd hold out, keep everything, and breed next year after a potential move.

Everyone and their brother are going to be producing pieds this year. "Recessive stability" in prices has applied to pieds, since they've been around for much longer than many other morphs, but they're still dropping like rocks. Big morph females are a better financial move IMO, and they're key to producing nice combo snakes.

Just think, having a shot at producing a lemon blast or bumblebee male, and the following year you might be able to hit the odds on a spinner blast.

That's much more appealing a project in my eyes than raising up a pair of pieds for a few years, and producing nothing but pieds.

Just my thoughts on the subject.
