Feeding schedule for future breeder
I have a spider female that weighed 225 grams a week ago or so. Her birthday is 8/20/10. Is it realistic for me to have her at the 1200 to 1500 gram mark by early winter this year (Nov.2011)? If so, what would her feeding schedule look like?
As of now, I am feeding her an adult mouse every 3 to 4 days. She is defecating. She has had one perfect shed since I have had her.
How much is too much? I do not want to hurt her in anyway obviously.
Thanks.
Re: Feeding schedule for future breeder
Whether or not having her up to that weight by then is realistic is not up to anyone to tell you, you'll just have to wait it out and see; growth rate is one of those things that are completely individualistic and impossible to predict.
I'd keep her on a similar schedule to what she's on now. Give her one appropriately sized prey item (about as big around as she is, or 10%-15% of her weight) every 4 or 5 days, and then see how much she grows by then.
Feeding like that is not harmful in my opinion. It only gets dangerous when people are feeding like every other day (again, IMO)
