Tank Setup!

Okay, so yesterday I posted about my BP not eating and I was suggested to get him a smaller tank because that could be the cause of it. I got him a smaller tank I went from a 40 Gallon Breeder to a 20 Gallon Long as that was suggested and thats what I was thinking. I thought it was the problem from the start but I wasn't sure. I had him in a 10 gallon and he stopped eating which I thought was because he was to big for the 10 Gallon so I put him in the 40 Gallon Breeder and he still didn't eat so I thought maybe it was to big. So now he is in a 20 Gallon Long. I got him a big water dish to take up some room also. Here is a picture of the tank. Tell me if this is a good tank setup for an 8-9 month old male BP.

Is the snake still young? Like the one on your hand in your avatar picture? If so, I would suggest some smaller hides. They don't need to be fancy though if you don't want to fork up more cash. I use cheap plastic bowls from the dollar store with a hole cut in the side. I would also suggest using two hides. One for the cool side, and one for the warm side. Two smaller hides and a water bowl in the middle with plants in between will make it a little more "cluttered" for your snake.

No, he is much bigger then he was in the picture in my avatar. I had two hides in there but it was way to cluttered in my opinion there was like no room for him to get anywhere, so I took it out. He probably has a little more room then he had in the 10 Gallon tank I had setup for him. And much less room then he had in his 40 Gallon Breeder. So I think he will do fine I just want to make sure this is the basic setup of a tank for his age. It looks fine to me but I just wanted to get everyone else's basic opinion. Ty.

Three things, you need two identical hides in a tank, you need hides that he has to ball up and be a bit squished in, and you can add some fake plants to fill in the open space. You may think there is no room in the tank to add another hide, but there is and it's very important that you do. You need a hide on the cool side and the hot side. If you have different style hides the BP will chose the hide he feels more comfortable in regardless of his health.

Other than that looks great, as long as your temps are good.

It may look like there is room in the picture but I honestly don't think there is. The hide he has in there is a bit big for him in my opinion but my dad took the one thats in there currently out and put his old one in and he wouldn't go in it. He stuck his head in but kept poking it back out and never even got in it. I think he is liking the one in there right now. And in his old tank he never got in his other hide. And when I had him in a 10 Gallon I only had 1 hide in there and he did fine. If he doesn't eat soon then I'll switch his tank around and get another hide in there. But I think he will be doing fine.
