Need to seal wood?

Ok I am building a combo that holds 16 15qt tubs and 8 28qt tubs

I bought cabinet grade plywood unsure of what the actual wood is nice and smooth and straight.
Do I need to seal the wood? If so what do I use? Will it say wood seal on the label?

When I built my very first rack I made it out of regular wood and I used thompsons water sealer that comes in a spray can and is used for outdoors stuff.

Yes!!!!!! If not you will get moisture and bacteria. You can polyeurothane (sp?) it. That is what we do with all the cages we build. I would recommend at least 2 coats. ;)

I also think you should seal it so it can be cleaned and also to keep it from rotting and growing mold, I used a stain and then water based Polyurethane to seal mine. I would let it air out until you cant smell any fumes anymore probably at least a week.

You also might want to put a bit of caulking in the cracks as well. Not a ton...just a thin strip.
