BP spending all her time in her cool hide??
I have a ~200g female ball. She's in a 20G tank. 80 on the cool side and 90 under the warm hide. I've had her about a month. She used to stay exclusively in her warm hide and now she's pretty much exclusively in her cool hide. Whats up with that? Yes, they're identical hides. When I touch her she's cool to the touch. Am I just being a mommy or do I need to be worried? I have a UTH under the warm hide and I've read that belly heat aids in digestion but she's not spending any time under there. She's eating just fine, like a champ actually. I just worry about her being too cold. Will she go back to her warm hide if she's too cold??

Some snakes just like the cool side, some like the hot side. Thats the point of giving them a temp gradient, to let them choose! shes fine haha

ps. you are measuring hot side temps on the glass/bottom of the tub and not the top of the substrate right?

Well OK I guess I'm just being a over protective mommy then lol.

And yes I am measuring the temps on the glass. :)

haha, sounds perfectly fine to me. she will choose(as long as the husbandry is right) which side she wants to hang out on :P. as long as she has room to regulate, i wouldn't worry about it.

Yup, my boy is the same way. He's only ever in his hot hide right after he's eaten. As long as temps are fine, there's nothing to worry about :)

Sometimes my girl will do the same, right to the cool side even after she eats sometimes. They are just like us, we get hot, we get cold so we adjust to what we need, so again as stated above, why they need a temp gradient.

my girl stays on the cool side for the 1st day after a meal then she goes to the warm side on the 2nd day after. other then that she's under the cool side hide box 75% of the time.

Unless you're staying awake all night, it may be regulating between the warm and cool side. Even if it isn't, the snake knows what's best for it as far as temp goes. You could also try switching the hides just to see what happens then.
