    Just doing some research!
My wife and I recently bought a Ball Python and ever since our interest in reptiles has grown. We made the mistake of going to a reptile shop today and LOVED the selection. We bought a mouse and watched a Sav hunt it down. After a few more minutes of talking to an employee I held him, all though I was advised to wear leather gloves because this monitor had been in the store for a while and doesn't get handled much. We also noticed a big Black and White Tegu. So here are the questions!

What size enclosure am I looking at for the Sav?

    What temp/humidity?

How often and what size food?

    Life expactancy?

    Tempermant and managing tempermant?

And here's the big one... Anyone here in the military and own multiple reptiles? How do you ship them/travel with them?

I know I can browse the internet and get the answers for most of these questions, but I like to read feedback from multiple owners and see what you guys think. I'm also definately interested in the black and white tegu, so any input on these guys would be great too. Thanks for any responses, your help is appreciated!

Try using the search tool. There are a couple threads on here explaining what you need to know. Also check out: http://savannahmonitor.org/

We just took in a large B/W because the owners were in the military and moving into gov't housing. It wasnt allowed where they were moving.

We were in the military and my hubby just retired. Not sure what branch you are but HI doesn't allow snakes...not sure about monitors though. Im sure they are fairly hardcore on the rules though. The only reason I give this example is you know where the possible places you may be sent...check those out. I would say if you want it get it but have a contingency plan if you have to go overseas as that could be tricky!
