Cover on tubs or not

I have seen some people put them on and have seen some with out. I was going to try the cover way first how many holes would you put or what would u do?

I think, the reason why they put holes in the tubs is for air to ventilate because if there is no ventilation in the tubs, its an easy access to molds. So you just put enough holes for the air to ventilate. Hope this helps! :D

thanks I know the holes for the side and such I was just wondering what people do for the lids if anything

you can put holes in the top if needed. I dont use lids on my tubs because they fit in my rack without them on, which is how i wanted it.

I don't use the lids of tubs in my rack setup. There is a tiny gap between the top of the top and the next shelf.

I have both, one rack where I use lids and one without. I prefer without! It gets to be a pain pulling out the tubs every time and having to site them on something. So the tubs that have lids on them, I took and cut the lids in half and put duct tape on the outside of the lid so it acts as a hinge. Been like that almost a year now and still on the same piece of duct tape.

with my adult rack i dont use lids, its just easier to slide it out a bit and do whatevet i need to do. on my hatchling rack i am using the lids just cuz the babies are so small i dont want to take a chance, even ralph davis has had babies get out on him lol. and i put holes in the sides and a few in the lid to help keep the humidity and air flow right

Yeah it's kinda a pain in the butt if u gotta slide the tub right out to take the lid off. When I built my rack, I made it so the top of the tub is nice and flush with the top shelf, so there is barely a space for anything to get out. I have a very small JCP in a tub in the rack and hasn't escaped, so I'm pretty happy with it. Just have to fill in the last 2 spots with some new snakes!lol

i also have a rack thats covered and one thats not, just go with uncovered :gj

Many people that have made the racks for lids regret doing that. It's so much easier to not have lids, you just pull the tub out a little and their you go. If you have lids on you have to take the tub entirely out of the rack, open it, do whatever, put the lid back on, and finally put the tub back. The only thing is that you need to make the shelves close enough to go without lids. If you are worried about the snakes pushing the tubs open without lids you can always put bars/pegs/etc in front of the tubs so they won't move.
