I am debating about purchasing a herpstat and need your opinions. Is it wise to buy a used devise of this sort? Someone has an ND grounded for sale for $95. He says it is 1 year old and used gently on a shelf. He has a manual and all parts to go with it. What do you think? What is the shelf life of these things?

I've heard of people using them a LONG time. How many watts are you hooking it up to? The herpstat nd retails for only like $20 more then that though, why not just buy new?

That sounds like a decent deal.

I wouldn't spend 95 on something that cost 110 new thats a year old and used. Thats like paying sticker price on a used car. Just my 2cents

Herpstat is a great thermostat I have 2 herpstat II and 2 herpstats and I love them had them for 3+ years no problems. But I would want it cheaper for a used one or I would just buy new.

$95 is the price with shipping. The herpstat ND sells for $145 new not including shipping. I figured it would save me a good $50. I am just trying to decide if the warranty is worth the $50. If you know of a place where I can get an ND for $115 shipping inc. please tell me because I have not seen it. I am very excited to be building my first rack. I bought the tubs this morning.

Check the price the grounded nd is 145$ OP the price is a fair one but do you need the grounded version? It is usually used for controlling oil heaters or large room heating devices ordinary UTH and Tape do not require grounded outlets.

You can't really go wrong with herpstats a solid product and Dion the owner of spyder robotics the manufacturer is a great guy to deal with.

Sounds like a fair price. Used Herpstats are hard to find due to the fact they last a long time. I have the Herpstat II and love it.
So, if your happy with the price, get it!

It's a fair price, as long as you trust the seller, you could have that herpstat for 3 or more years easily. I'd had my rancos currently for a year and a half with no issues, so i don't see why a herpstat wouldn't last 5 or more years.
