Is vermiculite suppose to be gold?
Once mixed it looks gold on my hand, don't know if this is safe for ball python eggs

Where did you get it from? If you got it from a gardening store or something, you've got to make sure that it doesn't have any fertilizer in it!

Most vermiculite will have something on the back of the packaging just like soil will... It'll say pretty much what's in it... Just make double-ly sure that it DOES NOT have fertilizer in it, or it will kill your snakes.

I can't honestly say that I've seen gold vermiculite, before... But in all honesty, if I was stuck in your shoes, without a positive answer... I wouldn't touch it. If I wasn't sure it was healthy for my snakes' eggs, and I couldn't find a definite answer from someone, then I wouldn't DARE touch it, and just spend an extra twenty on something I know that works, and is effective...

Yes, it can have a sparkly look to it. Sounds normal.

And I'm not sure I've ever seen vermiculite with added fertilizer (not saying it isn't out there though). But whatever medium, always make sure its fertilizer free!

yes that is completely normal, it's mica that's in the vermiculite, which occurs naturally with it/ a part of it, at least in most types. totally safe n harmless!
