snake gender and offspring ratio
Im a new ball python owner and have a question. Does the gender of a snake have any affect on the genetic outcome of the hatchlings. The reason im asking is everyone seems to want females rather than males.

Thanks for the reply. I was on Worldofballpythons.com and there was a genetics wizard calculator which calculated/estimated offspring ratio. If you bred a male (whatever) to a female (whatever) it calculated what the offspring might be. It was interesting. Thanks again.

Think about it this way.. If you have 3 females and 1 male, you can *hopefully* breed him with all 3. On the other hand, if you have 3 males and 1 female, you end up with less babies at once. So yes, if you're breeding, it sorta makes more sense to have a larger female to male ratio, because it raises your chances to breed.
