    Savannah Monitor Enclosure Question
Someone is telling me a well taken care of Savannah Monitor can live 1-2 years in a 55 gallon tank comfortably because they grow slowly?
Is this true? I thought they grew much faster than that.

Not true at all. My Sav was about 8in. when I got him. He is around 3 feet now which is a little over a year later. They grow fast. I'd look into either building a temp. 3ft x 6ft enclosure or a permanent 4ft x 8ft.

Oh, I don't own one, I already have one high maintenance lizard, but I like to research the care of other herps just...because.
But the guy was telling me and others that they don't reach full size until 4-5 years of age, in 1-2 years they only grow to be 15-24 inches depending on the lizard.
I thought that was wrong and I didn't want the other people to be ill-informed, but then I thought maybe I was mistaken.

yea with pretty much any type of monitor or lizard a too small of an enclosure can stress them and make them rub their faces causing many problems.

The people telling you this information are so wrong it's incredible. Most varanids will reach almost adult size by the time they are two...

My V. ornatus, at two years old, is six feet...
