    hello all....
    Hi everyone!

New to this forum...not so new to keeping snakes.
I've had a female ball python since 2006. She has grown slowly...but steadily.
today i weighed her at 1412 grams. She's been off feed for about 2 months(she does this EVERY year i've had her...same time of year.) So i thought i'd try to feed her today...using a SMALL rat with dark fur(yes..she HATES anything with white fur). Figuring since she hasn't eaten in a while..a small meal would be good to get things going again....She's constricted the rat.(i feed live...she is REALLY picky...i left the room knowing she was safe....when i returned...she had gone back into her hide..and left the dead rat there...uneaten. Any thoughts on why she changed her mind??

About the constricting, killing, and not eating. I wouldn't stress it to much. Like you said she goes off feeding around this time. Maybe she thought she was hungry, then realized she wasn't, who knows. Snakes are so unpredictable :P
