    taking snakes on a plane?
So i have looked on some airlines requirements for animals, but i just feel dumb because i do not understand it.
I am currently staying in Ontario,Ca and i am moving to Clearwater, FL. I was thinking some airports will only allow snakes as cargo, though i do not see why i cannot use them as carry on. So i was told i could ship my reptiles via fedex to arrive there before i do, since i know people staying there already. but wont i need to be certified? or can i just do a one time live send?

    thank you!

Since you're going to be traveling internationally, you need to get your CITES paperwork together first (contact one of the larger breeders in Canada to help you). Not sure what it costs these days. I'd also arrange for them to take care of your shipping for you.

You CANNOT cross the border without the CITES paperwork.

You also CANNOT fly with your snake.

Correction - your snake cannot cross the border without CITES paperwork. This is a Federal law for both countries.

And you also cannot take your snake on the plane as a carry on.

Yeah, I don't think they'll let it be a carry on..they took off fish as acceptable carry on pets! Apparently my betta was a matter of national security! So he had to stay home! I don't think they'd be any friendlier to a snake...

Oh...never heard of Ontario, California!

In that case, I'd find a breeder in your area to ship it for you. And no - you still can't take it on the plane with you.

we all saw the movie...its a bad idea.

try to find someone who is certified to ship and ask them. if you cant get a breeder near you to do it ask a reptile shop owner. a lot of those guys are certified so they can buy animals at shows and then ship them home.

or just drive, i drove 3 BP's and 3 rats from el paso texas to MA with no problem
